Advisory Board:
MVP has built an Advisory Board with valuable operating, technical and investment experience. The Board assists the Principals in generating investment opportunities, assessing prospective investments, and implementing the firm’s overall strategy. In addition, board members provide valuable assistance to our portfolio companies. Advisory Board members include:
- Nicholas Davidge – Technology consultant and private investor. Formerly CEO of Davidge Data Systems, Corp., a financial services IT firm founded in 1982 and acquired by S1 Corp. in April 2000. Mr. Davidge is a trustee of The Connecticut Historical Society, a director of Numerex, Inc. (Nasdaq:NMRX), a founder of Crushpad, Inc. and an advisory director of IntegraSolv, Inc. Mr. Davidige holds a B.A. in Physics from Middlebury College.
- Peter Frishauf - Independent consultant and private investor. Mr. Frishauf founded three New York City-based medical information companies, F&F Publications in 1975, SCP Communications in 1982, and Medscape in 1995. He served as Medscape’s CEO until February, 1998 when he became Chairman of its Executive Committee and was a member of its Board of Directors through its IPO and until its merger with MedicaLogic/Medscape, Inc. in May, 2000. MedicaLogic sold Medscape to WebMD in December, 2001. Mr. Frishauf continues to contribute to the site as a writer and editorialist. SCP was acquired by CMP Healthcare Media in 2004. Mr. Frishauf is a director and past president of the Healthcare Marketing & Communications Council, Inc.; a director of MedPage Today, a site that covers breaking medical news peer-reviewed by the University of Pennsylvania; a director of The Ominmedix Institute, a healthcare information technology consultancy; and president of Alumni & Friends of LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Mr. Frishauf holds a BA from New York University's Washington Square College and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
- Jonathan Glick - Vice President of Publications and Development of Gerson Lehrman Group, a leading independent investment research firm. Before joining Gerson Lehrman Group, Mr. Glick was CEO of OuterForce, providers of a software platform for the management and compensation of expert networks. Prior to that, Mr. Glick ran Product Development and Technology for The New York Times Electronic Media Company and was responsible for the design and development of all products and services, including The New York Times on the Web. Mr. Glick received his undergraduate degree from McGill University and pursued graduate studies in Cognitive Science and Instructional Technology at Columbia University.
- Steven Johnson - Founder of Outside.in, was the co-creator of two influential web sites in the 1990s: the online magazine FEED and the Webby-Award-winning community site, Plastic.com. Mr. Johnson is also the bestselling author of five books about the intersections of science, technology, and culture. He is a Distinguished Writer-In- Residence at NYU's Department of Journalism, and writes regularly for Wired, Discover, and The New York Times Magazine.
- Gerald D. Mintz – Currently CEO of Strategic Financial Solutions, LLC, (SFS) creator of PerTrac, an asset allocation and investment analysis software package used by hedge funds. Formerly Mr. Mintz served as President of Executive Programs of Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT & ITB), a leading technology research and advisory firm. Before joining Gartner, Mr. Mintz served as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Enterprise Information Solutions of Reuters (NasdaqNM: RTRSY), a leading global information company. Prior to Reuters, Mr. Mintz was Chairman & CEO of FAME Information Services, an enterprise software and services company. Before FAME, he was President & CEO of American Banker - Bond Buyer, a division of Thomson Financial Services (NYSE: TOC). Mr. Mintz holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, a MASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a BScEE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba.
- Carl K. Oppenheimer – Managing Partner of Oppenheimer + Close, a registered investment advisory firm and broker dealer. Before joining Oppenheimer + Close, Mr. Oppenheimer was a Principal at Milestone Venture Partners. Prior to Milestone, Mr. Oppenheimer was a Manager in the Business Development group of Sears, Roebuck and Company and focused on key strategic M&A transactions. From 1993 through 1997 Mr. Oppenheimer worked in China and Hong Kong in various operating roles in the hotel management and electronic manufacturing industries. Mr. Oppenheimer received a B.A. from St. Lawrence University in 1992 and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1999.
